There's a particular beauty to this landscape in winter. It's the dark season, but moonlight on snow does more work than you'd expect — the landscape never really goes black.

Every daytime photograph happens in a short window of light. Then it gets dark, and the camera gets a different job entirely — pointed straight up, at the aurora.
